A Soggy Start

Let’s talk about the first step. You soak the corn in its husk. It seems strange, right? I thought so too the first time. My grandson asked if we were giving the corn a bath. I still laugh at that.

This soak keeps the corn moist. The water turns to steam inside the husk. This steams the corn while it grills. It makes the kernels so tender and sweet. This matters because it’s the secret to perfect corn.

Grilling in its Pajamas

Now you put the wet corn right on the grill. Leave the green husks on. They are the corn’s pajamas. The husks protect it from the hot fire.

You just close the lid and wait. The smell is just wonderful. It smells like summer is here. What’s your favorite smell of summer? Is it grilled corn or something else? Tell me about it.

The Big Reveal

After grilling, the corn is ready to shuck. And oh my, this is the best part. The husk and silks just peel right off. It is so easy. No more sticky strands everywhere.

You can pull the husks back to make a handle. It looks so pretty on a plate. Fun fact: This method of grilling corn in its husk is very old. Native American tribes cooked corn this way for centuries.

Butter and Salt

Now for the finishing touch. You need melted butter and salt. Drizzle that golden butter all over. Then sprinkle on the salt. Doesn’t that smell amazing?

This simple step makes all the difference. The butter and salt bring out the corn’s natural sugar. It makes it taste so much sweeter. This matters because good food doesn’t need to be complicated.

I learned this from my neighbor, Helen. She brought over six ears one hot July night. We ate them right on my back steps. It was the best corn I ever had.

Now I want to hear from you. Will you try this method? What’s your favorite way to eat corn? Do you like it plain or with lots of butter? Share your thoughts with me.

My Secret for the Easiest Grilled Corn

Hello, my dear! Let’s talk about summer corn. I think it’s one of life’s simple joys. My grandkids go wild for this cheesy, gooey recipe. The secret is hiding right inside the husk.

We start by giving the corn a nice bath. Just fill your sink with cool water. Let the unshucked corn soak for about 15 minutes. A dinner plate on top keeps them from floating up. This little trick keeps the corn super moist on the grill. It steams inside its own little jacket.

Step 1: Soak your corn in the sink. Use a plate to hold them down if they bob up. After 15 minutes, drain the water and give them a little shake. This step makes all the difference, I promise.

Step 2: Now, heat your grill to medium. Place the wet, unshucked corn right on the grates. Close the lid and let them cook for about 6 minutes. Then, flip them over for another 6. They will come out perfectly steamed and ready.

Step 3: Let the corn cool just until you can handle it. Now, shucking is a breeze! The silks just wipe away. I like to pull the husks back to make a handle. It looks so pretty. (My hard-learned tip: if you leave the husks on, keep them away from the hot part of the grill. They can catch fire, and we don’t want that!)

Step 4: Finally, the best part. Drizzle that hot corn with melted butter. Sprinkle it with a good pinch of salt. Serve it right away while it’s wonderfully gooey. Doesn’t that smell amazing? What’s your favorite summer grilling memory? Share below!

Keeping Your Grilled Corn Perfect

Let’s talk about keeping this yummy corn for later. You can store leftover corn in the fridge. Just wrap each ear tightly in plastic wrap. It will stay good for about three days.

You can also freeze it for a winter treat. I once froze a whole batch for a snowy January dinner. It brought back lovely summer memories. Let the corn cool completely after grilling.

Then wrap each ear in foil and put it in a freezer bag. To reheat, just place the frozen corn on a baking sheet. Warm it in a 350-degree oven for 15-20 minutes. This matters because a little planning means you can enjoy summer flavors all year long.

Simple Fixes for Grilling Corn

Sometimes, grilling corn can be tricky. Do your husks catch fire? This happens if you skip the soaking step. Soaking the corn keeps the husks wet and safe from flames.

I remember when I first forgot to soak the corn. We had a very smoky backyard for a minute! Is your corn not cooking evenly? Make sure your grill is at a steady medium heat. This gives the steam inside the husk time to work its magic.

Are the silks sticking and hard to remove? That means the corn needs more time on the grill. Cooking it fully makes the silks slide right off. Fixing these small issues builds your confidence. It also makes the corn taste so much better.

Which of these problems have you run into before?

Description

Unlock the secret to perfect grilled corn every time! This effortless method creates juicy, smoky, and flavorful corn on the cob in minutes.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Fill a clean sink with water and soak the unshucked corn in the water for 15 minutes. You can use a dinner plate to hold them down if you wish. Drain the water and shake off the excess water.
  2. Heat the grill to medium and and place the unshucked corn on the grill. Grill (with the lid closed) for about 6 minutes. Flip and grill for another 6 minutes. Remove the corn and allow it to cool enough to handle.
  3. Shuck the corn and remove the silks. This should be super easy now. I like to pull the husks back and leave them on. It looks cool and creates a neat handle, but feel free to remove them completely. If you want a little char on the outside, return the corn to the grill over medium-high heat for 3 to 4 minutes on each side. If you do leave the husks on, be sure to hang them outside of the grill because they can burn.
  4. Drizzle with melted butter and sprinkle with salt. Serve immediately.
